Brought to you by Watt Whisky independent bottlers who have sourced this Croftengea from Loch Lomond Distilleries, a spirit that doesn't often see the light of day as a Single Malt.
Despite it's fairly young age, this peated malt stands out from others of a similar age in this category.
Nose: On the nose the smell of grist, malty. The smell of Grassy straw with lots of peat smoke. Memories of the countryside and cut grass. There is also suggestions of lemon and lime and pineapples cooked over a grill.
Palate: A gentle taste of fresh pineapple and citrusy lemon, with the malty biscuit taste following.
Finish: Some hints of black pepper, spice, liquorice and peat smoke with subtle dark chocolate hints at the end. Reminders of 'Black Jack' sweets.
Although a relatively young single malt, the youth accentuates the peaty characteristics. This 'Croftengea' (Loch Lomond - perhaps Scotland's most flexible distillery) offers a different style of peated whisky. An offering with a very grassy smoke and not the often intense character from the coastal seaweed of some Islay peated malt.
